Originally African, the Agogo may be the oldest samba instrument. Agogó is a percussion as well as a melodic instrument which was developped in Latin America and is played mainly in Brazil. It consists of 2 bells (Natural or Metal) that one hits with a wooden or metal stick, producing different pitches. The Agogo has the highest pitch of any bateria instument.
Our set of Agogo bells is hand made by our Brazilian "Professor Zap". The bells are made of hollow Brazilian Castanha nuts we import ourselves from Brazil. Each bell has a different pitch - one is a higher tone, the other a lower.
